Black,
Bold, and Beautiful
At
Wetterlands Ranch we are dedicated to preserving the classic Arabian
horse using Al Khamsa (Asil) bloodlines. These horses are world
renowned for their versatility in many pursuits , but especially
for endurance, dressage, and trail riding endeavors. Preserving
the Arabian's friendly and loyal temperament is foremost, but when
combined with correctly balanced conformation and classic Arabian
type the results are outstanding.
Janet
Wetter is the owner of Wetterlands Ranch Inc. located in the beautiful
rolling hills of North Central
Kentucky. The hills are important because we strive to breed
high quality endurance and trail horses which can properly use their
hind ends on steep hills. The hills also give the youngsters a good
start by strengthening their limbs, lungs and heart to help them
attain their full potential as adults.
The
Babson influence is noticeably present in our herd and is strongly
represented in the breeding program. We breed combined source
Al Khamsa horses from two stallion lines blending various elements of the different AK breeding
groups with a focus on Babson,
Brown and *Turfa bloodlines.
The first stallion line has Brown bloodlines are mainly thru the stallion El
Reata Juan of the sire line Mesaoud
from the Crabbet Stud. The other stallion line is AK Sharouf out of the renoun Babson mare Roufa out of Moniet el Sharaf by *IBN Moniet el Nefous. There are six mare lines mostly of a high percentage Babson breeding with some close in desert elements.
We
are confirmed Preservationists for the Al Khamsa which are so rare
in the world today. The ancestors of these bloodlines sprang from
the TRUE desert Arabian of by-gone days and the genes carried forth
still produce a versatile athlete who can go the distance while
remaining sound. Those wonderful qualities of endurance, loyalty,
kindness and beauty remain today due to the intense selective breeding
carried out by the Bedouin tribes. We believe that breeding for
agreeable temperament, sound and correct conformation and the original
Arabian type is what makes a superior athlete for today.
We
welcome you to Wetterlands Ranch to enjoy these magnificent horses
for yourself.
